New automated security gate at the sports field
A new automated gate has been installed at the end of Bridge Lane to prevent vehicular access to the sports field at night.
From 1st June 2026 the automated gate will open at 8am and close at 8pm.
A1 Wentbridge viaduct – update
From National Highways…..
I am getting in touch with a further update on the refurbishment and repairs to the A1 Wentbridge Viaduct and Wentedge Road Bridge in West Yorkshire.
As you are aware, over the past two weeks we have been working overnight to have the route fully reopened in both directions. I am pleased to say, as of this morning, the A1 between Ferrybridge and Barnsdale Bar is open to two lanes in both directions with the speed limit removed.
We will need two further overnight closures on the southbound carriageway overnight (8pm-6am) tonight (5 December) and tomorrow night for some finishing works on this section. We aim to have these completed as soon as possible.
On behalf of National Highways, I thank you for your patience as we have worked to complete this extensive scheme. We fully appreciate the impact this has had on all the communities affected and are pleased, and relieved, to have finished this ahead of Christmas.
